I did not choose this path casually. I did not wake up one morning and decides to enter politics out of restlessness or ambition. No, this journey began as a whisper from the spirits who watch over our land (Ps. 104:4), a gentle pull from forces that desire healing for Umunneochi. And then came the voices of the people; men and women who love this land with a pure heart, whose eyes have watched suffering for too long. Their cry strengthened the calling. Their hope drew me in.
I am not greater than anyone reading this. Far from it. I am simply a child of the soil who refused to ignore the cry of his homeland. Umunneochi is blessed, overflowing with gifted sons and daughters but she is still searching for people who understand her heartbeat, her wounds, her history, and her destiny. She is still waiting for those who will listen when she whispers her fears and her dreams.I have listened. And I could no longer turn away.
Umunneochi shared her secrets with me—secrets of what she once was, what she longs to be again, and what she can become if we choose courage over fear, unity over division, and truth over silence. This is why I ask: Ndi be anyi, let us lay down our grudges, bury our machetes, and approach our future with open hands and open hearts. I have seen the road ahead, and I have a plan—not for myself, but for all of us.For too long, we have watched our homeland denied the things that should be our birthright: good roads, industries that create pride and opportunities, media houses that amplify our voice, marketplaces that lift families out of hunger, and an environment where dreams do not die before they can breathe.
But every election cycle, we have witnessed leaders who use our trust as a ladder to climb into wealth. Leaders who convert public funds into private luxuries. Leaders who forget the people the moment they secure their position. My heart aches when I think of the opportunities lost. It must end. We cannot continue like this.
Umunneochi needs leaders who love her genuinely, leaders who tremble at the thought of betraying her.Our real battle is not against one another; it is against poverty that steals dignity, illiteracy that closes doors, insecurity that haunts our nights, and the toxic celebration of ill-gotten wealth that has swallowed our youth. Too many of our sons are behind bars in distant lands, their dreams cut short by desperation. Too many mothers cry into their pillows because their children are gone in search of survival. Too many fathers feel helpless watching their lineage fade into uncertainty.I cannot pretend I do not see these things. I cannot keep quiet.
My spirit will not allow it.Umunneochi needs leaders who can bring her children back home. Leaders who can raise living standards, attract investment, restore steady power, create jobs, and awaken hope. The dreams of our children are withering because our leaders stopped dreaming on their behalf. Our farmers who once fed other neighboring communities, now fear the very land that gave them life. They fear kidnappers.
They fear ritualists. They fear not returning home. This is a tragedy. Our youths, our strength, are drowning in drugs and dangerous addictions. Their brilliance is dimming. Their energy is fading. Something must be done.Security must be rebuilt. Vigilantes must be paid consistently so they can protect our people with dignity. Our streams that was once sacred places of rest, laughter, and purity must be restored. Imagine Umunneochi where families once again gather at refreshing waterfalls, where children play without fear, where tourists come to marvel at the beauty God gave us freely. This is not impossible.
It only requires vision and sincerity. This moment is not for blame. It is for healing. It is for truth. It is for choosing people who understand that leadership is a covenant with the land and the people.Look at Abia today. Governor Dr. Alex C. Otti is proving that honest leadership is not a myth. It is possible. It is real. And Umunneochi deserves no less. We deserve leaders with fire in their hearts, compassion in their souls, and clarity in their minds.
A new dawn is possible. A new story can begin. But we must take that first step together. The sleeping lions of Umunneochi must rise.
Our spirit must awaken. Our voices must align as one. And together, we must send forward the person who carries our hopes, our history, and our future in his heart.
